Setting up routers

Connecting and configuring your Wi-Fi router

When buying a Wi-Fi router, many inexperienced users believe that buying this device will save them the trouble of fiddling with network cables and other wires. But no, you still need a network cable. The only difference is that it needs to be connected to the router, not to the computer’s system unit.

However, Wi-Fi does not lose its advantages. Once it is properly set up, you can use the Internet with your whole family. This is especially true if your family members have their own Wi-Fi enabled computers, laptops, netbooks, or smartphones. Without a router, you would have to use one computer (to which the network cable is connected), or constantly reconnect this cable to the device you want to access the Internet from. Not only is this inconvenient, but the network cable is quite fragile and can be damaged if you constantly pull and connect.

Internet settings depend on the type of Internet connection you have. And the method of connection (directly or through a router) does not matter in this case.
